"The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want...."
Justin Romard Kay, 47, passed away surrounded by his loving family at his home on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
Justin was born on March 3, 1976. There is surely a loving welcoming committee there to meet him; his paternal grandparents, Mary H. and Willie B. Kay; his aunt, Rita Kay Kenney; and faithful uncle, Shirley 'Joe' Nelson.
Justin was a graduate of East Forsyth Senior High School and a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Art and Design in Silver Spring, Maryland. He was awarded the Who's Who in Art by the North Carolina Art Society. He worked for Prince George's County Head Start and Horn and Horn Group, the After School Division. Justin was rated as a Top Door Dasher and maintained 100% rating during his tenure with the company.
Our dear Justin loved art, in fact, there is an art display curated by Justin at Hanes Mall in Winston Salem, NC. The center window in the Food Court displays a mural of a collection of delectable foods made from pieces of glass. It has been there since 1988. He loved skateboarding, was a sports enthusiast, a technology guru and an avid fan of Marvel Comics. Justin enjoyed healthy eating, and his green smoothie was a daily must.
He is survived by his parents, Reginald D. Kay (Stephanie) and Delores Hughes Kay; his younger brother, best friend, and confidant, Jason R. Kay; niece, Jayla Kay; aunts, Doris Kay Nelson, Moline Hughes Stover, and Barbara Hughes; uncles, Leon D. Kay (Eleanor) and Ben Hughes (Peggy); his cousins, Ramona Kay and Lisa Kay with whom he resided; close cousins, William Nelson and Karen Nelson Harris; a good friend and fellow skateboarder, 'Caesar'; and a host of cousins, family and friends who will always carry his memory in their hearts.
Memorial services will be held at 12noon Friday, December 22, 2023 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Friday at the Church.
