Juanita Delores Plowden Golden was born October 25, 1930 in W-S, NC to Bishop Benjamin U. Plowden and Evangelist Cora L. Plowden. She passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Monday, November 16, 2015 at Trinity Glen Nursing Home in W-S, NC.
She was a graduate of Carver High School Class of 1950, a graduate of Russell's Business College, and a licensed cosmetologist.
Her accomplishments included employment at Sartan's Dry Cleaners, hairstyling at many shops in the city, members of Sethos Court, school crossing guard, library assistant at Carver High School, and a library assistant at Winston-Salem State University's O'Kelly Library until retirement. She enjoyed helping others, had a devoted love for the "beaches", and traveled there as often as she could.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth (Melvin) Petree; brothers-in-law, Prince Newell and Deacon Clifton Jones, Jr.; and her sister-in-law, Doris Plowden.
Survivors who forever treasure loving memories of Juanita include her son, Edward (Ann) Plowden; two grandchildren, Tumeka Johnson and Jene' Plowden; three great-grandchildren, Alana Plowden, Jaylan and Elijah Wilson; siblings, Mother Elizabeth Jones, Mrs. Geraldine Newell of Laurel, MD, Bishop Bennie L. Plowden, and her wing woman, Mrs. Barbara Jean Nowlin; childhood friend, Mrs. Dolly Gibson of Washington, DC; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Lydell Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:00am on Saturday at the Chapel.
