Mr. Joyce Decarster Webster, 85, son of the late Decarster and Murphy Joyce Webster died May 30, 2012 at his home in Virginia Beach, VA after an extended period of illness.
He received his early education in the public schools of Winston-Salem. Joyce attended Atkins High School where he was an excellent football and basketball player along with his brothers, Jarvis and James Webster. After transferring to Carver High School, he continued to play football, before graduating.
Joyce was a veteran of the United States Navy Submarine Division and spent two years before receiving an honorable discharge. Prior to enlisting into the Navy, he worked for RJ Reynolds. During his early adult years, he moved to Philadelphia, PA and was employed as a welder by the Pennsylvania Railroad Company.
Joyce was married to the late Janice Warrick Webster and to this union nine children were born: Linda, Decarster, Tyrone, Joyce, Larry, Jeffery, Phillip, Vincent, and Zachary. He later married Peggy Aikens Webster.
He was also preceded in death by five sisters.
He is survived by his wife; children; one sister, Peggy Webster Floyd; two brothers, Jarvis and James Webster; nieces; nephews; cousins; many family members, friends, and others.
Memorial services will be held at a later time in Virginia Beach, VA.
