Another rose has been plucked from their thorns, Mrs. Joyce Thatch of 2874 Ansonia St. passed away Friday, June 13, 2008 at her residence. She was formally of native of Elizabeth City, NC.
She moved to Winston-Salem, NC more than 30 years ago and was a formal employee of Baptist Retirement Home. While living here, she placed her membership with Carver Road Christian Church.
She was the daughter of the late Edward Ferebee and Rodena Hassell whom she was the caregiver for.
Survivors who are left to cherish her memories are her loving and devoted son, Nathan (Lanita) Ferebee; adopted daughter, Lisa Stewart; granddaughter, Shaniqua France; four adopted grandchildren; three adopted great-grandchildren; two brothers, Willie (Wilhelmenia) Pledger, Sr. of Winston-Salem, NC and Edward Ferebee of Elizabeth City, NC; two sisters, Ruth (James) Wilson of Winston-Salem, NC and Nellie (James) Blount of Elizabeth City, NC; Joyce was also the caregiver for Lindsay Felton of the home; one aunt, Louise Ferebee of Currituck, NC; a very devoted God-niece Little Ms. Arial Johnson; special friends, Gene, Steve, Wallace, Naomi, and Turk; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 4pm Friday, June 20, 2008 from the Carver Road Christian Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 3:30pm until 4pm on Friday at the Church.
