Obituary

"The Lord is my Shepard" Joyce M. Gerald went home to be with her Savior on April 1, 2014 after an extended illness.

She was born in W-S, NC to the late Dewitt L. and Mary Brown Morgan on February 19, 1935. She attended the public schools of W-S, NC and Springfield, OH. She furthered her education at North Carolina Central University, Durham, NC receiving a B.A. in English and was inducted into the Golden Eagle society in 2006. Joyce was also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Joyce Gerald was united in marriage to the late Leroy Gerald on April 5, 1957, and to this union two daughters, Trina Ann and Priscilla Lynne were born.

She retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and Inmar. Joyce was an avid card player. She was a charter member of the Bid More Card Club, member the Young at Heart Pinochle Club and Aerial Pinochle Club and a Bridge player. She is a member of Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church where she served in the Amanda Galloway Aid Society.

Cherishing her memory are two daughters, Mrs. Trina Wilson and Mrs. Priscilla Henderson and two devoted sons-in-law Jonathan Wilson of Kernersville and Clarence Henderson of Raleigh, NC; one brother, David L (Vivian) Morgan of Temple Hills, MD; two grandchildren, Jonathan (Danielle) Wilson II of Durham, NC and Natasha Wilson of W-S, NC; 3 nieces, Adrian (Victor) Brown of Raleigh, NC, Monica Gerald, of Atlanta, GA and Jeanette (Laric) Copes of Apex, NC; 3 nephews, David (Virgil) Morgan IV of Essex, MD, Marvin Gerald of Atlanta, GA, and Ronald Gerald of Durham, NC; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11am Monday, April 7, 2014 at First Baptist Church, 700 Highland Ave. W-S, NC with Reverend Daryl Aaron officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11am on Monday at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, please give in memory of Joyce M. Gerald to the American Lung Association or the First Baptist Church Capital Campaign on Highland Avenue.

The family extends special thanks to the doctors and staff of Forsyth Medical Center eighth floor pulmonary unit, ICU, and ICCU. A very special thank you to Dr. David Defeo of Salem Chest Specialists and Dr. Renee Teleger of Winston-Salem Health Care.
