Obituary

Joshua Elijah Davis "Josh" was born in Winston-Salem, N.C. on February 16, 2001 to Paris D. Buchanan and raised by his great grandmother Minnie Simons, whom he loved very much.

Joshua went home to be with the Lord December 4, 2021, after God blessed and worked miracle after miracle in his life, 20 years of Faith and Perseverance.

He attended Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools, he graduated from Walkertown High School; he was a great student and excelled in his studies. He was known by his teachers, peers and classmates as a sweet and helpful person.

From the time of his diagnoses at age 3months, he was in the care of Wake Forest Baptist Hospital (Brenner Children Hospital) where he developed a relationship with a community of doctors, nurses, unit secretaries, etc. you name it, everybody knew Josh and, they were very attentive to taking care of him.

He was a member of First Church of God in Christ. Joshua was a loving person and kept a positive attitude, whether he was feeling bad or good, always smiling. Joshua will be remembered and missed for his loving ways; he loved to eat, watch wrestling and play videos with his two big uncles, Roman and Willie Davis.  Joshua was preceded in death by his Paternal great, great grandmothers, Corrine Bailey and Verna Henderson; great grandparents, James and Minnie Simons; his maternal great grandparents, Nicholas and Bernice Davis; his step granddad, Calvin Drummond; and a cousin, Vartrinda Jones.

Joshua leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Paris (Daniel) Buchanan; brother, Isaiah Buchanan; sister, Kayleigh Buchanan; two step brothers, Caleb and Austin Buchanan; one step sister, Ashley Buchanan, all of Coeburn, VA; paternal grandfather, Willie (Robin) Simons of WS; maternal grandmother, Brenda Drummond of WS; four uncles, William (Antoinekia) Sherard, Willie and Roman Davis, and Jermaine Boyd; aunt, Monica Davis, all of WS; favorite cousins, Dion Shepherd, Cory Roseboro, Amyra Davis, and Major Chandler; special godmother and great aunt, whom he loved, Anna Hatcher; two god sisters, Erica Allen and Joli Hatcher (his baby); and Sharon Scott, an aunt whom he could call anytime, special thanks to Dr. Derek A. Williams and staff for many years of dedication and work, who held on to Joshua until his death; and host of cousins, aunts, and uncles.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Monday, December 13, 2021 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
