Mother Josephine Smith O'Neal of 320 Torey Pines Court, formerly of Darlington County, SC departed this life July 15, 2011 following an illness of several months. She was born June 15, 1915 to the late Lottie Richardson Smith and Albert Smith. She was loyal house wife and loving mother and grandmother to her family.
Mother O'Neal was a dedicated member of Christ Rescue Temple Apostolic Church where the pastor is Bishop Willie Davis, Jr. She was baptized in Jesus Name and filled with the Holy Ghost. Mother O'Neal was a faithful member of Sunday School Class #1, Mother's Board,Bible Band, Missionary Fellowship Choir, and Missionary Circle until her health declined. Her favorite songs she loved to sing were: "Lord I just want to Thank You", "Walk with me Lord", and "I'm going to stay under the blood". Mother O'Neal was the oldest member of Christ Rescue Temple Church, her pastor Bishop Willie Davis, Jr., always commented on her beautiful white curly hair and smile.
Mother O'Neal was preceded in death by her daughter, Maudie Mae O'Neal; and her beloved husband, Mr. Grover Cleveland O'Neal, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory five sons, Flemmon O'Neal, Imam Irshad (Veronica) Hasan, George Cliffton O'Neal, Johnny McKinney (Shelia) O'Neal, and Willie James O'Neal; a devoted granddaughter and caregiver that was raised as a daughter, Gail Denise (Woodrow) Davis all of Winston-Salem, NC; one sister, Lula Mae Williams of Hartsville, SC. Mother O'Neal was blessed with 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandsons; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a special devoted friend Doris Smith of Winston-Salem, NC.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Christ Rescue Temple Apostolic Church, 1500 N. Dunleith Ave. W-S, NC with Bishop Willie Davis, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Tuesday at the Church.
