Obituary

Mr. Joseph Antonio Samuels, Sr. was a resident of Charlotte, NC.  He gained his heavenly wings on Friday, November 18, 2022.  He was born on November 29, 1964 in Forsyth County, Winston-Salem, NC to Olene Dodd Samuels and James Samuels, who preceded him in death.

Joseph was a graduate of Parkland High School.  He earned his Associate Degree in Computer Engineering, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology, and a Master of Science Degree in Cybersecurity Technology.

Joseph was a loving husband. He met his soul mate, Sharon, while working with her at JC Penny Department Store at Hanes Mall in 1989.  He married her on Saturday, March 30, 1991.  He was a devoted and caring father to his children and grandchildren.  During the children's younger years, he was their coach when they participated in track and field.  He was a fan of his daughter, who was the only girl that played volleyball until she graduated from high school.  He loved dogs and going fishing, especially the ocean.

Joseph leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 31 years, Sharon Simington Samuels; his children, Joseph Antonio Samuels, II, Leon Jarrett, and Jaelyn Krishawn all of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Lauren-Joseph of Washington, DC, Noel Nicole of Washington, DC, and Lennox Leon of Huntsville, AL; one brother, James (Angela) Samuels, Jr.; two sisters, Jacqueline Blyther and Linda Samuels; four uncles, Jerry (Nancy) Dodd, Roosevelt Samuels, Timothy (Cynthia) Samuels, Sr., and Benjamin (Cynthia) Samuels; an aunt, Mary Lee Simington; mother-in-law, Ernestine J. Simington; three brothers-in-law, Leon (Felisa) Simington, Jr., Ricky (Wanda) Simington, and Dr. Kenneth (Velvet) Simington; two sisters-in-law, Vicki (William) Taborn and Sabrina Simington; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and very close friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Friday, November 25, 2022 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Dr. C.E. Gray officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park, Rural Hall, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Saturday at the Church.
