Mr. Joseph Harvey was born in Winston-Salem, NC on March 18, 1932 to the late Mr. Walter and Mrs. Athelle Harvey. He departed from this earthly life on Monday, February 28, 2022.

Joseph was a 1951 graduate of Atkins High School  and after graduation, he joined the military where he served for two years in the United States Army.  After returning from his military service, he began a career at R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and retired after 34 years of dedication and faithful service.

Joseph was an avid golfer, winning numerous tournaments at Winston Lake Golf Course and surrounding areas while sharing his passion with his wife and friends.  He was a member of Rising Ebenezer Baptist Church of Winston-Salem, N.C for over 50 years until his health declined.

He was preceded in death by his lovely wife of over 60 years, Alberta Harvey; parents, Walter and Athelle Harvey; brothers, Melvin and Walter, Jr.; and sisters, Bessie Tucker and Barbara Jean Williams (Booker) all formerly of Winston-Salem, NC.

Surviving are his brother, Aldeen Harvey; nephew reared in the home, Alfred (Alecia) Harvey; and a host of nieces, nephews , cousins and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Monday, March 7, 2022 at Russell Funeral Home.

Private services will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2022.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
