Obituary

Joseph Houston Haggler III, 74, was born to Joseph H. and Ophelia D. Haggler. He passed away peacefully at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home early Friday morning April 3, 2020.

Joseph Haggler graduated from Carlyle High School Class of 1963; He attend Winston-Salem State University, Winston-Salem, NC. and Dauphin College, Harrisburg, Pa. AS: Computer Science. Joseph Haggler was dedicated Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Mentor. A seasoned operations manager with over 35 years of management and technical expertise in planning, network deployment, systems integration, and network operations.  Building and leading technical organizations; program management of complex network and infrastructure implementation and service delivery operations. A proven track record of successfully integrating and implementing state of the art telecommunications products and services. He attended the First Baptist Church of Vienna as a trusted member for over 40 years in addition to holding position as Minister of Music. His ability to touch people and make them feel welcome is well known and he left such a lasting impression on all those he encountered. If you knew him, you understood that riding horses was a passion that would never leave him. Most of his spare time was spent riding, training and developing horse for rodeos and horse shows, its simply who he was a true black cowboy of our family. Joe retired after many years in the telecommunication industry leaving Washington DC and returning to Winston Salem NC becoming a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Surviving to cherish precious memories are his wife, Esther Haggler; his four children, Joseph (Carla) Haggler IV of Tampa, FL, Joanne (Donald) Hansberry of Vienna, VA, Jeannene (Stephon) Gaddy of Winston Salem, NC, and Jonathan Haggler of Kernersville, NC; his sisters, Cynthia (Otis) Guinyard of Royersford, PA, Pastor Dr. Patricia Haggler of Bethlehem, PA; and a host of grandkids, great grandkids, as well as additional relatives, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

There will be a public viewing on Monday, April 6, 2020 from 2:00pm until 5:00pm at Russell Funeral Home. Services will be private.
