Mr. Joseph Dobson, Jr. was born November 19, 1954 in Winston-Salem, NC to Dorothy-Mae Scott and James Virgil Dobson.  He departed this earthly life surrounded and filled with love on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

James grew up in the Boston neighborhood of Winston-Salem and spent many childhood summers in Mocksville, NC.  He attended Reynolds High School and was employed by Winston-Salem State University. Joseph was a long-term manager for Black Velvet Lounge and was a business owner of Unique Remodeling.  He was a man of infinite talents and had a jovial and loving spirit.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Bobby Dobson and Raymond Dobson.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Angela Doreen Dobson; children, Joseph Dobson, Jr., Tanesha Larkins, Korri (Deveron) Dobson, Kellie Sims, Julie Sims, and Choyee Dobson; twelve grandchildren; siblings, Juanita Blackwell, Dorothy Burns, Linda Dobson, Brenda Crawford, James Dobson, Roland Dobson, and Ricky Dobson; aunts, Helen Scott and Marie; uncle, Ron Dobson; a host of nieces and nephews; loving sister-in-law, Toni Adams; special friends, Mr. & Mrs. Steele, Mr. Roy Thomas, Chris Jordan, Bosco, and Carolyn Anthony; other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm Monday, February 22, 2021 in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
