Obituary

"Well done, good and faithful servant." Matthew 25:23(KJV)

While enjoying the peace and tranquility of one of his favorite vacation spots, God chose to escort his servant, Prince Dr. Joseph Adegboyega, into eternal rest. Affectionally called "Dr. Joe" by most, his humble spirit, his kindness, and his attentive nature will be missed by all.

Dr. Joe began his earthly journey in Lagos Nigeria, the son of Prince Raphael Ayodele and Esther Abiola Adegboyega under the royal family name of "Jimekum" Royal Ruling Family, Ondo State, Nigeria.

Throughout his life, Dr. Joe, obtained various degrees and certifications which led to him becoming a licensed therapist and a clinical supervisor. Dr. Joe was passionate about his work and profound accomplishments in this profession, and he found great joy in training others to become therapists and counselors.

Dr. Joe attended St. Matthew's Primary School in Ondo, Ondo State, Nigeria and St. Joseph's College (High School) in Ondo. In August 1973, he left Nigeria for Nice, France to further his education. In France he attended the University of Toulouse where he received his Bachelor's degree in Accounting and his Master's degree in International Communications. Dr. Joe received his Doctorate degree in Psychology at Barrington University in the State of Alabama, U.S.A.

In 2008 he was installed as Worshipful Master of Piedmont- Pioneer Lodge No. 685, AF&AM, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was Master of Wilkerson College Lodge No. 260 in 2012. At the time of his death, Dr. Joe was a member of Salem Lodge No 289, Wilkerson College Lodge No. 760, Mosaic Lodge No. 762 and Winston Salem Scottish Rite Valley.

Dr. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and 3 siblings.

Left to cherish his memory and continue his legacy, is his wife and soul mate, Veronica Halter-Adegboyega of Kernersville, N.C. He was the proud father of two children, a son, Jerome Adegboyega, a daughter, Jessica Adegboyega and a precious granddaughter, Jerica Adegboyega all of Ontario, Canada. Dr. Joe is survived by 15 siblings, all residing in various parts of the world. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends who deeply loved and adored him.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Friday, February 3, 2023 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Masonic Center of Winston-Salem, 4537 Country Club Road W-S, NC with Dr. Stephen Masolwa officiating.  The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Saturday at the Masonic Center.
