Jonie "Dutchess" Nicholson 54, departed the life we know on Saturday, December 12, 2009 in the comfort of her family and friends. She was born July 2, 1955 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Mr. and Mrs. Acie and Courtney Nicholson. She was a life-long resident of Winston-Salem, and educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Public Schools.
In addition to her parents, Jonie was preceded in death by one sister, Penny Wilborn; two devoted aunts, Sallie Neal and Alma Thomas; one uncle, Bishop Elijah Neal; and her brother-in-law, Joseph Williams.
Jonie is survived by one son, Derrick Nicholson; and one granddaughter, Derricka Nicholson both of Winston-Salem, NC; two brothers, Ricky Crawford of Detroit, MI and Dale Cash of Winston-Salem, NC; three sisters, Mrs. Loletta Williams, Mrs. Sandra "Ba-Ba" (Jerome) Williams, and Mrs. Andrea (Minister James, Jr.) Rowdy all of Winston-Salem, NC; four nieces, LaTonya and Nicole Nicholson, Shawna Rowdy, and Tracy Cash; nephews, Rodrick and Antonio Nicholson, James Rowdy, III, and Brandon Cash; aunts, Elder Betty (Elmer) Davis, Irene Allen, Hannah Christmas, and Dorothy Davis; uncle, "Buck" Nicholson; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Thursday, December 17, 2009 from the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Claude Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from Noon until 1pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
