Johnny Howard Harris was born on March 8, 1939, in Forsyth County to Reverend Willie McGee Harris and Mozelle Miller Harris.  He passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center after a brief illness.

Johnny grew up in Walkertown, NC where he resided most of his life.  He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after more than 30 years of service.  In addition to his employment with Reynolds, Johnny was a salesperson for Bobby Teague Appliance and TV as well as various car dealerships throughout the Winston-Salem area.  Johnny enjoyed watching almost all sports, including football, basketball, racing, and golf.  In previous years, he enjoyed an annual trip to Georgia to attend an Atlanta Braves game.

Johnny was predeceased by his parents; and his sister, Barbara Grier.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Valarie S. Harris; his son, Brian Harris and his daughter, Lori Harris both of Winston-Salem, NC; his brothers, Jimmy Harris of Winston-Salem, NC,  Rev. Fletcher (Edna) Harris of Nevada, and Roland Harris of Walkertown, NC; brother-in-law, Robert Grier of Winston-Salem, NC; stepdaughters, Shena' (Aaron) Thornton of Morrisville, NC and Natachia (David) Mitchell of Bermuda Run, NC; stepson, James "Freddie" Falls (Porteia) of Hawaii; also left to mourn Johnny are numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other family and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30am Friday, September 19, 2025 at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 950 File St. W-S, NC 27101.  Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory, 5676 Old Walkertown Rd. Walkertown, NC 27051. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 11:30am on Friday at the Church.
