Deacon Johnnie Parms, III, aka" Toot" to some and 'Papa' to others, was born to the Late Deacon Johnny Parms, Jr. and the late Mrs. Annie Ruth Parms on December 9, 1958, in Guilford County. Deacon Parms, III was united with Mrs. LeWanda (Cuthrell) Parms on November 21, 1992, for 34 years. To that union, they had 3 daughters, RoShanda Cuthrell, Systeria Cole, and LaShanda Parms.
He was a 1977 graduate of Parkland High School. He was a member of the Army, where he served for 4 years. He was employed with Haywood Pools for 19 years, until his health caused him to seek retirement.
Deacon Parms, III was a dedicated member of Greater Faith Empowerment, serving as Pastor Neal's assistant, Praise Team member, Trustee Board member, Sunday School Teacher, and Deacon Board member. Deacon Parms III has made his mark in his church and will never be forgotten.
Deacon Parms was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Parms, Jr. and Annie Ruth Parms; and one brother, James Leroy Parms.
He is survived by his wife, Elder LeWanda Parms; one son, Carter Evans; both of Winston-Salem, NC; three daughters, RoShanda Cuthrell, Systeria Cole (Jenay Cole), both of Winston-Salem, NC, and LaShanda Parms of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Deacon William David Parms (Elder Angela Parms), 5 sisters, Ms. Agnes Betts, Ms. Annette M. Parms, both of Winston-Salem, NC, Mrs. Patricia Skinner (Ronnie Skinner) of Colfax, NC, Mrs. Sabre P. Caldwell (Anthony Caldwell) and Mrs. Cynthia Gilchrist (Christoher Gilchrist) of Winston-Salem, NC; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Greater Faith Empowerment Church, 1630 Enterprise Rd. Lexington, NC. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Thursday at the Church.
