On Tuesday, April 10, 2012, our mother, sister, grandmother, friend, and one of God's generals received her call to return home to her Heavenly Father. Johnetta Marie Purcell Ijames of 600 Chandler Street was born on August 24, 1951 to the late John and Purlean Valentine in W-S, NC.
She was educated in the WS/FC School system and was a 1970 graduate of North Forsyth High School. For 29 years she was employed by Forsyth County at Reynolds Health Center. She was a member of Greater Tabernacle Worship Center of W-S, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandmother, Evangelist Wilma White; and her granddaughter, Johnnea Lacole Coleman.
She leaves to cherish her life her children, Taffany Coleman, Tonia Coleman, and Terick Coleman, Sr. (Johnetta); step-daughter, Shameika Binns (Brian); sister, Kaye Purcell; two brothers, Paul Valentine (Cathy) of Lawton, OK and Darrel Valentine; thirteen grandchildren; one great-grand; her aunt, Margaret V. Speas; two uncles, Greg Davis (Peggy) and Tommy Davis all of Winston-Salem, NC; several devoted sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives, devoted friend Rose Johnson, Greater Tabernacle Church, and a host of spiritual sons and daughters, for which whom she loves dearly.
A celebration of life will be held at 1pm Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at First Waughtown Baptist Church, 838 Moravia St. W-S, NC. The family will receive friends from 11:30am until 1pm on Wednesday at the Church.
