Mr. John Kenneth White, Sr. was born August 29, 1946 to Rev. John Henry and Dr. Maggie McMoore White in Rock Hill, South Carolina. He passed away June 08, 2011 at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. He attended the York County Schools, Cleveland and Washington High Schools in Shelby, North Carolina, and acquired his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from North Carolina A&T State University. There he was initiated into the Alpha Nu Chapter of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. John H. White.
Left to cherish heartfelt memories are, a devoted wife, Norma Jeffries White; sons, John Kenneth White, Jr. (Meisha) and Rob Drayton; daughter, Mrs. Crystal Drayton Evans (Douglas); granddaughters, Morgan and Lelah White; grandson, Anthony Scott; mother, Dr. Maggie McMoore White, sisters, Marcina Harris (Albert), of Brownsville, TN; Tropzie McCluney (Earnest), of Shelby, NC; brother, Ovid A. White. Sr. (Audrey), of Greensboro, NC; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church. Interment will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park, Shelby, NC. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 12:30 pm on Saturday at the Church.
The family extends special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit of NC Baptist Hospital.
