Mr. John Martin Webb, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home on December 8, 2018. He was born in Clinchco, Virginia, was raised and attended school both in Roan Mtn., Tennessee and Walnut Cove, NC. He was of Baptist faith.

As a young man John relocated to Brooklyn NY. He received an honorable discharge for service in the US Army and later retired from the US Army Reserve. John resided in Queens NY, working for NYC Transit Authority as Motorman (subway system for 25 years).

In 1992 John and his family moved to Winston-Salem NC, where as a successful entrepreneur he created and operated his own ice cream truck.

John was highly skilled, gifted and talented. If it were to be built, he built it. If it were to be repaired, he repaired it, and in any financial situation he'd come up with finances. If a hand was needed, he lent his. Oh and yes he could be F-I-E-R-Y, but the warm kindle by far exceeded the flame.  Above all he was an awesome, loving, caring, responsible husband, father and a very giving human being. His demeanor was of sophistication, dignity and grace. He was truly grateful to God for his life and blessings bestowed unto him.

He was preceded in death by his father John M. Webb, Sr.; mother, Helen Buster; sisters, Johnnie Mae King and Pauline Davis; brothers, Terry Thomas and Troy Buster. He leaves in loving memory his wife Verselle Webb; son Johnathan Webb; daughter, Shiheta Mock; granddaughters, Niyah Mock, Paris Hill, Johnae Richardson, and Janiya Webb; great grands, Ava and Avery Mock; brother, William Ray (Emma); sisters, Doris Hinton (Ronald), Gertrude Buster, Diane Marin, and Joan Johnson; aunt, Hazel Gibbs; uncle, Marscel Ray (Lula); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, family and special friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.  The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:00am on Friday at the Chapel.  Interment will be held in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
