John "June" C. Moncrief, Jr., 68, departed this life on Thursday April 7, 2016.
John was born in Winston-Salem, NC on August 14, 1947 to John and Christine Moncrief. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1965, before attending the Winston-Salem Business College. John's career took flight however, when he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1966. John rose to the rank of sergeant during his distinguished Airforce career; and served tours of duty in Japan, California, Florida and Hawaii.
At the end of his military career, John returned to North Carolina to work for Goodwill Industries as a van driver for less than two weeks. As a former sergeant, model, and actor John decided he had earned the right to work for only one man--himself! John started his own window cleaning business, which existed for over 40 years, As Jetsaw, Oval Office and Eagle Eye Window Cleaning. John's engaging personality and involvement with business organizations such as B.N.I., allowed him to truly connect with his customers. John took great pride in knowing that his window cleaning business helped to provide jobs for many of his family, friends and neighbors.
John was committed to being an agent for positive change in the community and was involved with several prison ministries, through church and The Gideons International. Additionally, the Coalition for Drug Abuse Prevention presented John with a community service award to acknowledge him for the many years he dedicated to helping others with overcoming addictions in the Piedmont Triad area.
John was a devoted member of the Institute of Devine Metaphysical Research in Charlotte, NC where he served briefly as superintendent. He was a former member of Living Word Fellowship Church in Winston-Salem, NC.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his two brothers, Billy and Roy Moncrief.
