"To everything there is a season, a time to be born and a time to die." Mr. John Edward Martin, Sr., 65 of 2932 Lomond Street passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. He was born January 23, 1946 in Forsyth County, NC to Emma Bernice Ortiz and John Berry Martin. He retired March 1, 2011 after 32 years of service from B.E. Aerospace, where he was well known and loved by his co-workers.
He took pride in spending time with his family and friends, riding his motorcycle, and working on cars.
He was preceded in death by his father; and his sister, Emma Loraine Wilson.
John leaves the following to cherish dear memories: two daughters, Reva Annette Shuff (Ed) of New York and Johnisha Latrice Martin (Rome) of the city; one son, John Edward (Vicki) Martin, Jr. of the city; fourteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his mother, Emma Bernice Ortiz of Booneville, NC; one sister, Mary M. (Mike) Rucker of the city; two nieces, Christina (Anthony) James and Quintoria Rucker both of the city; three nephews, John Andrew (Shannon) Martin of Booneville, NC, Mike (Sara) Rucker of California, and William (Sandra) Martin of Yadkinville, NC; two devoted friends, Ava Drake and Bishop Nash; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Monday, April 18, 2011 at Union Chapel Baptist Church with Reverend Konnie G. Robinson officiating. The family visitation will be held from 1:30pm until 2pm on Monday at the Church.
