Obituary

John E. Jackson was born September 2, 1944 to George Jackson, Sr. and Estell Ramsey in Winston-Salem, NC. He graduated from Atkins High School Class of 1964.

John was in the Marines from March 21, 1966 until June 10, 1969. He was employed by Archer Aluminum / RJ Reynolds and retired after 30 years of service. He was later employed as a 7-11 Store Clerk, Janitor, and Security Guard at Prince Ibraham Elementary School.

John was a member of Central Triad Church in Winston-Salem, NC under the leadership of Pastor Leroy Kelly, Senior Pastor.

On December 22, 2022 at 3:15pm, God called his child home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janice Jackson; his brothers, George Jackson, Jr. and Herbert Walters; and his sister, Delores Wall.

John is survived by his brother, Andrew Jackson (Geraldine); his daughter, Sonya Watts; stepdaughter, Rhonda Fields (Darrell); stepson; Jonathan Attucks (Ebonne); two granddaughters, Carmen Durham-White (Charles) and Kiairra Durham; two great grandchildren, Sanaa and Psalm White; step grandchildren, Farrah Fields, Thomas Fields, Sahara Attucks and Noah Attucks; three sisters-in-law, Patsy Todd, Mattie Brock, and Lottie Barber; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Thursday, December 29, 2022 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Leroy Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 9:30am until 10:00am on Thursday at the Chapel.
