Mr. John Henry Hart, 92, made his transition from this earthly life on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at his home.  He was born in Winston-Salem, NC on December 11, 1932, a son of the late  George Hart and Lula Hartzol Hart.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, George Hart.

Fondly known to many as "Dupree," John was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Public Schools.  He served an enlistment in the United States Army and was honorably discharged.   He was a retiree of R. J. Reynolds Tobacco, having served 33 years.  He was a longtime member of Union Baptist Church, until he affiliated with Galilee Missionary Baptist Church.  Fraternally, he was a member of The Bivouac Lodge #503  Prince Hall Masons of Winston-Salem, NC, King Solomon Consistory #64, and Sethos Temple #170.

Those left to cherish precious memories are his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Vergie Hart of the home; a daughter, Jonetta Estes of Newark, NJ; a son, John Corell of Granite Quarry, NC; a stepdaughter, Phoebe Porter of Grovetown, GA; a stepson, Persivia Collins of Upper Marlboro, MD; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; cousins, in-laws, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Monday, June 9, 2025 at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Nathan Scovens officiating.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Monday at the Church.
