Mr. John Davis Hanna, 73, born May 13, 1941, passed away on November 4, 2014 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
He was born in Florence, SC to LD Hanna, Sr. and Mary Singletary Hanna.
He was a graduate of Atkins High School. He was a Medic while serving in the Army during the Panama Canal Crisis and served in the Army Reserve after discharge.
He was employed by Winston-Salem Urban League and was a member of Rising Ebenezer Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his children, Antonio, Amancia, Denna, and Raymond (JasLashanda); grandchildren, Quiante' and Raymond, Jr.; great-grandchild, Alona Sellers; siblings, Alice Hanna, Gloria Archie, LD Hanna, Jr., Juliette Kennedy, and Victor Hanna; four beloved aunts; one uncle; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Monday, November 10, 2014 at Rising Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. William Brown officiating. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Monday at the Church. Interment will be held at 2pm Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
