Mr. John W. Griffin, 71, affectionately known as "Concho" and "Biddy" by his childhood friends, was born on May 31, 1944 in Winston-Salem, NC. He was the only child born to the late Samuel and Bessie Mae Griffin. On Friday, May 13, 2016, John unexpectedly entered into eternal rest.

He attended Atkins High School and served in the United State Army. He retired from US Airways after 25 years of service. John was a faithful member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, where he served in the Missionary Ministry and the Heritage Choir.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 12:30pm on Thursday at the Church.
