John H. Greer, Sr., aged 90, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on March 3, 2025. Born on November 10, 1934, John lived a life marked by dedication to his faith, his family, and his community.

John was known for his impeccable style and purposeful demeanor. His commitment to discipline and love as guided by Proverbs 13:24 shaped his approach to family life, deeply influencing his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He embraced his role as a provider and was a firm believer in the principle that "a man that don't work, don't eat."

He worked for many years at RJR, retiring in 1989, and subsequently served as a crossing guard, and in parks and recreation, demonstrating his enduring work ethic until he could no longer work. John was a devout member of St. Stephen Missionary Church in Winston-Salem, where he served as a deacon, embodying his priorities of faith and community until his final days.

John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susie Lane Greer; and sons, Aldrick "Knuckles" and John H. "Spunky" Greer.

He leaves behind a loving family: daughters, Cynthia D. Greer (Ray), Marie A. Greer, and Teresa McLean (Johnny); sons, Leonard Greer (Sonya) and Jermaine C. Greer; 17 grandchildren; and 34 great and great-great-grandchildren, who will miss him dearly.

A service to celebrate John's life will be held at 1:00pm Friday, May 9, 2025 St. Stephen Missionary Church, located at 5000 Noble St, Winston-Salem, NC 27105. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1:00pm on Friday at the Church.
