Obituary

On the 18th of April 1922, John William Faison was born to Arlene and John Faison in Ahoskie, NC. He was one of ten children. Only his sister, Ruby Faison Godwin survives him.
He was a member of the Army and served in the Philippines during World War II. He earned a degree in sociology from Virginia Union University in 1951 and afterward he went to work as a Contract Administrator for the Department of the Army, where he retired after 26 years of service.
Throughout his life, John loved baseball. When he could no longer play, he found joy in coaching youngsters and driving them back and forth to school.
In April of 1953 he married Dolores Bridges, the love of his life. This union produced four children, Valerie F. Bridges, Bryahn D. Faison, Teresa F. Lewis, and John, Jr.; six grandchildren, Etyia Faison, Bryahn, Jr., Joseph Faison, Jacqueline Faison, Yusef Lewis, and Telly Correll; great-grandchildren, Camara, Yazzmine, Matthew, and Liberty. Mr. Faison was a devoted husband and loyal family man. He has a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom had a special place in his heart. He will be missed by his devoted wife, Dolores, and all who loved him.
