Mr. John A. Burts departed this life on July 20, 2011 at his residence. He was born on October 25, 1939 to Mr. and Mrs. Mary Ann and Johnny Burts.
He retired from RJ Reynolds.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ethel; two brothers, Eugene and Robert; and one grandson, Nathan.
He is survived by his children, John Squire (Drika), Necole Pulley, Cynthia and Reginald Squire, Joy Hoover (Martin), Angela Young, and Clarence Plowden; a special grandson, Xavier and 13 other grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 1 on the way; three brothers, Joe, James, and Ernest Burts; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Joseph Lowery officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Tuesday at the Chapel.
