Mr. Joe Henry Smith, Sr., 87 passed away June 26, 2009. He attended the local public schools and was a devoted member of New Bethel Baptist Church. He was a WWII veteran honorably discharged and a retiree of the RJR Tobacco Company.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Lee Noble, Sr.; and his son, Joe Henry Smith, Jr.
Left to cherish his memories are his sons, Terry H. Smith and Darius J. Smith; daughters, Priscilla Reed, Dilthra Patton, Barbara Smith, and Sandra Smith; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; extended family and devoted friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12Noon Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from the New Bethel Baptist Church with Reverend Kendall D. Jones, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until Noon on Wednesday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the New Bethel Baptist Church.
