Joann Reedy Munden, 73, of Winston-Salem was born November 6, 1940 to Blanche Reedy and departed this life on July 5, 2014. She attended and graduated from elementary school and Saint Anne's Academy in Forsyth County. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Shaw University.
Her early teaching career began in Bertie County Schools before moving back to Winston-Salem where she taught at Saint Benedict the Moor and Saint Leo the Great Catholic Schools. Later her career took her to Sears Department Store and American Express customer service until her retirement.
Joann joined Saint Benedict the Moor Catholic Church and became active in all phases of the church's musical activities. She performed with several choirs on special occasions in Winston-Salem, most recently with the Voices of God's Children.
Joann was married to Forrest Munden, Sr. and to this union three sons were born.
She is survived by her former husband, Forrest Munden, Sr.; sons, Forrest, Jr., Maynard "Mark", and Odell "Chris" Munden; sister, Thelma Bridgett; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral mass will be held at 12noon Saturday, July 12, 2014 at St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church, 1625 E. 12th St. W-S, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Saturday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on her behalf to St. Benedict or the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
