Mr. Jimmy Ronald Hamilton, known as "Big Hamp" was born September 26, 1947 in Durham, NC to Jacob and Alma Hamilton. After years of illness, Jimmy was called home to be with our Father God to rest, surrounded by loved ones and friends on Sunday, June 23, 2019.

He graduated from Hillside High School in Durham, NC. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He was employed by the Winston-Salem Housing Authority as a maintenance worker for many years before retiring.

Jimmy was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Winston-Salem. Jimmy enjoyed being around his family and friends. He enjoyed all sports and his team was the San Francisco 49ers. He had an amazing personality and a sense of humor; he enjoyed laughing and making others laugh.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by the love of his life and caregiver, Ms. Mary Jenkins Crowell of the home; two daughters whom he loved dearly, Angela (Leo) Hamilton-Rucker and Sameerah Ali; Anthony Jenkins, a young man that cared for him very much and was a big part of his life, his nickname for Jimmy was "Daddy Love' and he loved him very much; four grandchildren, Demarcus Truesdale, Naja (Jarred) Kelly, Corey Hinton, and Micah Truesdale; he is fondly remembered by his sisters, Annie Hamilton Daye and Shirley Cox; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Monday, July 1, 2019 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Ann Dalton officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Monday at the Church.
