God has called home one of his dear angels, Mr. Jimmy Butler, Sr., who was born January 31, 1956 to Mr. and Mrs. Rosie Lee Butler in Uniontown, AL. He departed this life on April 24, 2012.
Jimmy was a graduate of Robert C. Hatch High School. He was later baptized at Friendship Baptist Church in Uniontown, AL. In 1978 his family relocated to Boston, MA. In 1982, Jimmy moved to Winston Salem, NC, where he married his dear wife, Lillie Estelle Butler of twenty-eight years, on September 8, 1984. He worked at Forsyth Medical Center for 11 years and was transferred to Liberty Healthcare three years ago.
Jimmy was a loving father who loved his children and his grandchildren dearly. He was a very hard worker that always helped others. He will always be remembered for his kind and encouraging words he gave to others. If you gave him a project to do, you always knew it would be done right.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Willie James Shears of Boston, MA.
He leaves to cherish, his dear mother, Mrs. Rosie Lee Butler of Boston, MA; a loving wife, Lillie Estelle Butler; six children, Kimberly Michelle Carter, Earl Ray Carter, Charles Jerome Carter(Jennifer), Janie Mae Carter-Senn (Johnny), Willie Fred Carter and Jimmie Lee Butler Jr. (Sebrina); eleven grandchildren all of Winston Salem, NC; three brothers, Moses Shell, Roosevelt Butler, and Eddie B. Butler (Joyce); one sister Daisy Mae Baptiste, all of Boston MA; his loyal and faithful dog, "Sparkle"; and three lovable turtles.
Homegoing services will be held at 2:00pm Friday, May 4, 2012 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 1:30pm until 2:00pm on Friday at the Chapel.
