Obituary

Mr. Jesse Ray Davis, III., 55, of 2832 Bon Air Avenue , passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at Forsyth Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was born on July 6, 1951 in Montgomery County , NC to Jesse and Leola Robinson Davis.

He resided in Winston-Salem all his life and was a graduate of Atkins High School class of 1969. Jesse was of the Baptist Faith and was a member of The Circle Professional Saving Club. He was a former member of All the Kings Horsemen's Auto Club and La Casa Grande Auto Club.

Mr. Davis was a former employee of Sara Lee Hosiery and UPS after 10 years of service. He was an avid traveler with the booster clubs and loved to travel to WSSU football games. He will surely be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Alvin Westley Davis on October 30, 1988.

He leaves to cherish his memories three sisters, Tommie Mae Davis of District Heights , MD , Almeta Davis of the city, and a devoted sister, Jeanette Anderson of the home; two uncles, Milton (Viola) Hannah of Norman, NC and Curtis Robinson of the city; three aunts, Mrs. Oshie Ledbetter of Norman , NC , Mrs. Rose Robinson and Mrs. Lillie Robinson of the city; his cousin, Rebecca (Jimmy) Mitchell of the city; devoted friends of whom checked on him, Mousie and Brenda Smith, Marlene and Russell Wilson, Geraldine Lemons, Dorothy Sharp, Williette "MS. FLOSSIE" Sawyer, Ernestine Crawford, Phyllis Price, Marie Searcy, Ma Hattie, Dave Davis, Raeford and Cynthia Oree, and Reginald and Francina Thomas; the children of Bon Air whom Jesse bought candy for, Laren Nichols "LA", Camaya Thomas, Ky'Shara Ingram, Jeremiah and Mylik Lane, Aubryana Payne, and Tamia and Kamia Washington; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at 2:00 PM from the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. Charles E. Gray officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at Piedmont Memorial Gardens . The family visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday at the Chapel.
