Mr. Jerry Bernard Haywood, 69, departed this life on August, 9, 2007. He was born in Orangeburg, SC on November 10, 1937 to Jerry and Catherine Haywood. He was educated in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools.
Jerry was employed many years with Wyatt Quarles Seed Company and Weaver Seed Company. He was well known throughout the Happy Hill Gardens and Parkview (Give Points) communities. In his later years, he enjoyed gardening, landscaping, and sending quality time with his friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Millie Miller and Agnes Lanier; one brother, Berkley Haywood, Sr.; and one nephew, Gerald Haywood.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Delicia Haywood; one daughter, Forsythia Haywood; two sons, Othello Haywood (Johnny Mae) and Todd Haywood (Carol Stewart); two sisters, Betty Smith and Frances Gray; two brothers, Oscar Haywood (Juanita) and Clyde Haywood; his mother-in-law, Pearl Mills; eight sisters-in-law with two devoted sisters-in-law, Evelyn Haywood and Brenda Mills; three grandchildren, Chris Allen, Christian Allen, and Anthony Burch; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jerry will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and his humorous nature. He loved to keep those around him laughing and in good cheer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1pm Thursday, August 16, 2007 from the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ernest McLaurin officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12:30 pm until 1pm on Thursday at the Chapel.
