Mr. Jerry Wayne Friday, 61, was born September 15, 1952 in Winston-Salem, NC to R.T. & Virginia Glenn Friday.  He departed this earthly life on April 7, 2014 at Springwood Care Center.

Jerry attended the local public schools of Forsyth County, was employed with the Housing Authority of Winston-Salem for 23 years, and later employed by the Industries for the Blind. Often times Jerry would attend Piney Grove Baptist Church and Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

An avid UNC-Chapel Hill and Wake Forest University sports fan, Jerry also was a fan of drag races and enjoyed his time spent as an artist.

He was a well-loved and humorous spirit who thought the world of and adored his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Left to cherish his fond memories are his children, Raheine (Angie) Reid and Paris Johnson; grandchildren, Amond Crews, Daunte Rhyne, and Janiyjah Simmons; one sister, Valerie Friday; nephew, Miguel Friday; aunt, Sarah Thomas; cousins, Vickie and Vonda Thomas; best friends, Kenneth Broome and Denny Simmons; and a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11am on Saturday at the Chapel.
