Mr. Jermaine Lamont Oakes, 32, affectionately known as "MANEY", of 2020 Independence Road , Winston-Salem, NC, made his transition to be with the heavenly Father unexpectedly on Sunday, January 14, 2007 at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center .
He was born Sunday, June 23, 1974 in Winston-Salem to Roger Allen and Barbara Oakes. He was of the Baptist faith and employed with Peak Fitness.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Mr. David Leroy Oakes; his special Great Grandmother Mrs. Annie Bell Hardy; and two uncles, William and Alan Allen.
Jermaine leaves to cherish memories his loving and devoted wife Mrs. Julie Penn Oakes of the home; his children Jaquez, Jashon, Jeremy, Joshua, Jahquiria, Janhya, Jordan and Jazoni Oakes; his parents, Barbara (Anthony) Oakes-Brown and Roger (Olivia) Allen; a loving and devoted grandmother of whom was a very integral part of his raising Mrs. Iveria Oakes-Shuler; his paternal grandmother Mrs. Shirley Allen; five sisters, Kia Spears, Kenyetta, Kimberly, Jalessa and Jessica Allen; one brother, Ricco Hairston; eight uncles, Jackie Hardy, David (Gyda), Charlie, Linard and Kinard Oakes, Reginald, Haywood, Eddie and Nathaniel Allen; two aunts, Mrs. Vernice Hardy Buey and Mona Oakes; six brothers-in-law, Fred, Walter (Tonda), Barry, Gregg (Lisa), Derrick Penn and Charles Brown; two great-aunts, Mrs. Annie Hardy Davis and Mattie Hardy; as well as special cousins, William (Yancey) Hardy and Samika Lynette Hardy all of Winston-Salem; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Friday, January 19th at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of the Russell Funeral Home with Family Pastor Elder Mark Mack officiating. Interment will be held in Piedmont Memorial Gardens . The family visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 1:00 PM Friday at the Chapel.
