Jean M. Quick, 89, passed peacefully in Durham, NC on Monday, February 8, 2010.
She was born October 29, 1920 in Jacksonville, FL, the daughter of Joseph and Marguerite Massey. Her early childhood education was in Jacksonville, FL, Detroit, MI, and Winston-Salem, NC. She also attended St. Augustine's College in Raleigh, NC.
Jean was married to John D. Quick, Jr. and to this union was born one son, John D. Quick, III.
She was an active member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church for the many years that she resided in Winston-Salem, NC. In addition to serving the Church, she was a member of the Winston-Salem Chapter of the Links for several years whereby she helped the organization in meeting its goals of successfully serving the surrounding community.
Jean also worked at Wachovia Bank in Winston-Salem, NC for approximately 15 years.
Jean M. Quick was preceded in death by her husband; and her sister, Marguerite M. Lightner.
She is survived by one son, John D. Quick, III (Saundra) of Durham, NC; two granddaughters, Adrienne Quick-Wright (LaMark) of Durham, NC and Janifer Quick of Barcelona, Spain; one great-granddaughter, Sydni Elise Wright of Durham, NC; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at Noon Saturday, February 13, 2010 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 810 N. Highland Ave. W-S, NC with Reverend Dr. Hector Sintim officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until Noon on Saturday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that all donations be made to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.
