Jannie Mae Singletary Gethers was born in Lake City, SC on January 6, 1937. She graduated from Carver High School in Lake City, SC. She retired from ARA services after over 30 years of service.

Jannie was a member of Ladies of Distinction and enjoyed attending church. She spent much of her time cooking, baking, watching game shows, loving on her children and grandchildren, sitting on the porch, barbecuing, and family cookouts at the Big House.
Jannie was preceded in death by her father and mother, Henry Singletary and Sue Gardner; step-mother, Lula Mae Singletary; husband, John Gethers; brother, Roosevelt Singletary; and sisters, Mary Hanna, Juanita Mcmillian, Julia Cameron, Gloria Singletary, and Wilhameina Burgess.

Jannie is lovingly remembered by her four children, Jahureia (Mary) Gethers of Baltimore, MD, Jalaine Gethers and Johnetta Gethers of Winston Salem, NC and Jareena (Robert) Bethea of Rural Hall, NC; six grandchildren, Morris (Trina) Lucas, Javon (Precious) Gethers, Shakira Bethea, Jaylin Bingham, Brittany Bethea and Tyler Gethers; eight great-grandchildren, Mya Lucas, Zariah and Jasaun Chatman, Genesis Bingham, Skylar Clarkson, Jayce and Jaxson Gethers, and Legend Gethers; sisters-in-love, Beverly Linville, Mary Katherine Parker and Claudette Gethers Boyd; Godchildren, Oscar Vaughn, Walter Lee Penn, Stephanie Bishop Moody, and Barbara Howard; numerous nieces and nephews; and the Pierce, Edwards, Smith, and Munson Family.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Friday, January 5, 2024 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Keifer Bradshaw officiating.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Friday at the Chapel.
