Jamie Neil Redfearn transitioned from this life to glory on April 12, 2018. Born in Thomasville, NC, on February 06, 1963, to Edward and Gene B. Redfearn, Jamie was a gifted high school and college student athlete. One of ten children, Jamie moved to North Davidson County at a young age and grew up under the guidance of his foster parents.
His intuitive and competitive football prowess landed him an athletic scholarship where he excelled as a history major at Wake Forest University and on the football field as an outside linebacker. His teammates remember him as a leader whose tenacity, friendship, and big heart was inspiration to all of them. Upon graduation in 1987 he engaged in entrepreneurial endeavors and was self-employed for twelve years as a Hair Care products Distributor for Design Essentials. During this period of time, he traveled extensively, and around 2004 on a plane flight to Miami, he connected with the love of his life, Ana Moraes. She invited him to church, he dedicated his life to Christ, the romance began, and they were married in 2005. Two years later, they were blessed with the birth of their son Isaac. Meanwhile, Jamie became a permanent member of the St. Peter's Church and World Outreach Center family and held positions in the Security Ministry, Marriage Ministry, and served as Cell Group Leader along with the Generation 7, a group of men which promoted Christian principles and served as a support group for the men of the church. He enjoyed reading the Word of God, prayer meetings, and worship services.
Jamie never held a tennis racquet until he was about forty years old, but yet he became an accomplished tournament tennis player through the Bolton Tennis group, and the Kimberly Park Tennis Association, and he competed with state level players. Most recently, he developed a passion for pickleball and played with dedication at the YMCA in Winston-Salem and with the NC Pickleball group in Greensboro until his illness slowed his pace. Jamie loved interacting with people from all walks of life, and he never met a stranger. Whenever he traveled to Brazil to visit Ana's family, he developed a number of friends with whom he created long lasting memories.
Jamie's next to last employment venture placed him as an agent with Envoy of the American Airlines group, the largest regional carrier for American Airlines. Last, he moved over to Mitsubishi, but his health issues precipitated an early departure from that company this past spring.
The family is appreciative especially for the love and kindness which Jamie's god grandmother Lorene Jones extended to him as his caregiver and guardian angel during his brief illness. Moreover, the family thanks Jamie's many friends in Greensboro, Charlotte, and Winston-Salem who brought sunshine into his life daily through their timely visits, cards, and telephone calls which he cherished.
Jamie's smile will live in the memories of his devoted wife of twelve years, Ana Moraes Redfearn; three sons, Ryan Donnell, Jaelin Redfearn, and Isaac Redfearn; mother, Gene B. Redfearn; four brothers, Carl Redfearn, Willie Taylor, Darren Redfearn and Shelby Jeralds (Janice); four sisters, Teresa Redfearn, Shirleen Taylor, Sharon Redfearn, and Diane Ingram; two foster brothers, Ronald and Donald Banks; a mother-in-law Edenice Rocha Pita; a father-in-law, Milton Moraes; two sisters-in-law, Daiana Pita Moraes and Jarinha Nunez; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Jamie was preceded in death by his father, Edward Redfearn; and two brothers, Lee and Eric Redfearn.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, April 21, 2018 at St. Peter's Church & World Outreach Center. The family visitation will be held from 10:00am until 11:00am on Saturday at the Church.
