James Waddy Jr. was born on May 4, 1964, to James Waddy and Juanita Waddy in Inglewood, Calif. Our beloved son, father, brother, uncle and cousin was called home on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, after a prolonged illness. James graduated from Ridgewood High School in Ridgewood, N.J., in June, 1982. James was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1984 after serving two years. James worked for a number of companies in the New Jersey area before relocating in the mid-1990s to North Carolina, where he was employed by the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. until his untimely accident. In his spare time, James loved to work on cars, rebuilding them and giving them the spark they once had. He was also a classic movie buff. James was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Waddy. James had a spirit that endeared him to all who met him. James leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Karen; a son, Kawand; his father, James Sr.; stepmother, Diane; sister, Anita Marie (Bill); brother, Anthony
(Tonya); nephews, Mack and Anthony; niece, Cheyenne; and a host of aunts, uncles and other family and friends. The funeral will be held at noon on Monday, Feb. 5, 2007 at the chapel of Russell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to noon on Monday at the funeral home. The family will gather and leave from the home of the brother, Anthony Waddy, 2811 Burlwood Drive, Winston-Salem. The family would like to extend warmest thanks to Althea, Michelle, Theona and the entire staff at the Brian Center for their devotion in the care of James over the past two years.
