James Calvin Stover, affectionately known as "Stover", 61 of Winston-Salem, NC died Friday, October 31, 2008.
He was voted Most Valuable Basketball Player, All City, 1967.
James was a lover of family, a giver and helper to all. Most of all he was a kind and wonderful spirit, his smile entered a room first and his sense of humor was effervescent.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy Howard Stover and James C. Stover.
Left to cherish his memories are his children, Curtis D. Sutton of Winston-Salem, NC, Daren L. (Charisse) Hester of Brandywine, MD, Karen Sutton, Jonathan C. Adams and Jasmine L. Stover all of Winston-Salem, NC; sisters, Joan Lee of Detroit, MI, Patsy A. Carpenter of Columbus, OH, and Lynda K. Sallee of Detroit, MI; 6 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Homegoing services will be held at 12Noon Thursday, November 6, 2008 from the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 950 File Street Winston-Salem, NC. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12Noon on Thursday at the Church.
