Mr. James Andrew Moore, Sr., affectionately known as "Buddy", 77, of Winston-Salem, NC, departed this life on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 peacefully at his home.  He was born in Newport News, VA on October 23, 1946 to the late William Jerome Moore, Sr. and Thelma Dean-Moore.  He grew up in Newport News, VA and attended the local schools until he moved to Elizabeth, NJ with his sister, Jessie Lee Moore-Jenkins.  Buddy continued his education at Jefferson High School and Battin High School in Elizabeth, NJ.

He attended college in Florida and received an associate degree in business and finance from Union County Community College in Cranford, NJ.  Buddy received numerous certifications throughout his career.

Buddy married the late Evelyn Louise Moore in Elizabeth, NJ and to this union they had seven children.  He was a single father that enjoyed taking his children to watch the New York Yankees play home games. Buddy was an avid photographer, he enjoyed family trips to Coney Island, Disney World, road trips with his children, and special trips with his son June.  His love for baseball led him to coach little league baseball in Elizabeth, NJ for years.  After 23 years of dedicated service, Buddy retired from Verizon in 2003. In his past time, he enjoyed singing with family and friends at cookouts and family functions.  He loved R&B singers Sam Cook and Otis Redding and other genres of music.

A new chapter began in Buddy's life when he relocated to Winston-Salem in 2004.  Yolanda relocated to Winston-Salem in 2005.  They were married on April 8, 2005 and to this union they have two children.  Buddy and Yolanda joined Trinity Methodist Church in Winston-Salem in 2005.  He enjoyed the remainder of his life in Winston-Salem with his wife and family sharing countless opportunities to enjoy his family by going on family vacations, attending cookouts, parties, graduations, and any other family gathering.  We will miss his famous quote, "Be nice to each other, family is everything!" Following a brief illness, Buddy peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family.
