Mr. James R. "Shug" Price, Sr., the son of the late Charlie Lincoln and Ethel Bynum Price was born on October 29, 1938. Mr. Price was called home peacefully on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 5:10pm.

He attended Atkins High School, where he was inducted into the 2009 Atkins High School Hall of Fame for Basketball. James retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company and was a member of Phillips Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he shared harmony as a devoted member of the senior choir.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Charlie Mae (Joe) McFadden; son, Earnest Price; and his brother, Lonnie Lincoln Price.

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Williams Price; sons, James "Buck" (Janet) Price, Jr., Vernon Price, and Brian (Anastasia) Price; daughters, Catherine Williams McCoy and Lisa P. Walker; nineteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Phillips Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Chad R. Armstrong officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Saturday at the Church.
