James Leroy Parms, also known as "Spunky", a beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025, just days shy of his 68th birthday. Born on March 22, 1957, to Annie and Johnny Parms Jr., James was a man of unwavering faith and integrity who touched the lives of many throughout his journey.
With over 30 years of experience as a machine operator, James dedicated himself to his work and was respected by colleagues for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. His skills in the industry were matched only by his kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need.
A devoted member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, James served as a deacon and was an active participant in church activities. His faith guided him through life's challenges and inspired those around him. He was known for his warm smile, gentle spirit, and the genuine love he shared with everyone he encountered.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
He leaves not to mourn but to cherish his memory, a son, James Larone Parms of the city; two daughters, Alisha Parms of the city and Sheena Parms Delaine of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren, Juwan Coleman, Karter Delaine, and Kendall Delaine. He is also survived by his siblings, Johnny Parms III, William Parms, Agnes Betts, Annette Parms, Sabre Caldwell, Cynthia Gilchrist, and Patricia Skinner; along with numerous nieces and nephews who adored him dearly.
As we remember James, let us celebrate the legacy of faith he leaves behind which is a testament to a life well-lived in service to God and family. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Mount Carmel Baptist Church. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Wednesday at the Church.
