James Edward Lowery of 6558 Vance Road was born in Forsyth County on February 22, 1932 to Luther R. Lowery and Mildred V. Hairston Lowery. On January 5, 2011, God called home his faithful servant. He fought a good fight and kept the faith.
James attended local schools in Forsyth County. He was life-long, dedicated member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for over 45 years, member of the Sunday school, Wednesday morning Bible study, and former church custodian.
He was lead guitarist for many church choirs and local groups. He was a member of the Red Rock Lodge #809 of Walkertown, NC. His favorite hobby was bowling. James retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co. after 28 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Plushia Mae; and one brother, Willie.
James leaves to cherish his memories two sisters, Alberta Teal of Kernersville, NC and Louise (Gurvis) Bailey of Orange, VA; two brothers, Rev. Richard (Betty) Lowery of Walkertown, NC and Luther R. (Luther Mae) Lowery of Winston-Salem, NC; and a host of caring nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend I.L. Anthony officiating. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Saturday at the Church.
