Mr. James Willie Jones, 81, departed this life peacefully on Friday, August 5, 2011 at his home.
He was born on July 25, 1930 in Winston-Salem, NC to Willie B. and Roma Oliver Jones. He was married to Katie E. Hairston Jones for 45 years.
Mr. Jones was affectionately known as "PaPa," "Spike," "Godfather," and "Mr. Cool."
He was a graduate of Carver High School Class of 1949. He was an avid bowler with the Camel City Bowling Club.
He was a member of Ministries of Truth Apostolic Faith Church.
Mr. Jones retired from RJ Reynolds after 33 years of service. After retirement, he worked for the WSFC School System and the Kemet Summer Camp of Emmanuel Baptist Church as a bus driver until his health declined.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Nathaniel Jones.
Surviving to cherish precious memories are 2 sons, James W. (Maude) Jones, Jr. of Cleveland, NC and Jeffrey (DeAnna) Jones of Winston-Salem, NC; 3 daughters, Janice R. Jones of Raleigh, NC, Jennifer (Edward) Summers of Rural Hall, NC, and Jerri (Kevin) Welch of Walnut Cove, NC; 15 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Martha Rutledge of Washington, DC, Esther (Joseph) Haggler of Vienna, VA, and Hattie Jones of Winston-Salem, NC; 6 brothers, Thomas (Rose) Jones of Ayers, MA, George (Patricia) Jones of Raleigh, NC, Hubert Jones, Odell (Roslyn) Jones, and Hobart (Carolyn) Jones, all of Winston-Salem, NC and Reginald (Kathy) Jones of Vienna, VA; special friend, Sherron Richardson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Homegoing services will be held at 12noon Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1075 Shalimar Drive. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Tuesday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice Care Center, Winston-Salem.
