IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Albert
Johnson, Sr.
February 27, 2024
Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
"The quality of a father can be seen in the goals, dreams, and aspirations he sets not only for himself, but for his family." James Albert Johnson, Sr., passed away peacefully and gracefully on February 27, 2024, at Silas Creek Rehabilitation Center. James was born January 24, 1950, in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Albertine Anderson Johnson and Lee Johnson Jr. He attended the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools and was a 1968 graduate of Anderson High School.
James was a generous, devoted and loving father, grandfather, and a friend to many. To be in his presence was to experience a unique and warmth that made friends family and brought family closer.
James' professional life included his work with Bahnson Company, Wachovia, Place to Place Limousine Service and Lanier. In the community, he was a League Representative for Pop Warner Little League Football Tiny Vikings team and coached Mineral Springs Little League baseball teams.
James was a dedicated member of the Ambassador Cathedral under the leadership of Bishop Frederick D. Patterson Sr., and then, Apostle Edward L. Allen. James served faithfully as a deacon, financial steward, and former bus driver. Until his health began to fail, he served joyfully in these capacities, which resulted in a lifelong dedication to Christian service.
James was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dairio Little, Sr.; sister, Annette Jones; brothers, Arthur Anderson, William Anderson, Leon Johnson, and Larry Johnson.
James is survived by his children, Boston Darryl (Tangula) Graham, Sophia Kennedy, James (Shequilla) Johnson, Jr., and Jamina Johnson; his grandchildren, Robert Clayton, Jamon Carlton, Brandon Duckett, Brooklynn Graham, La'Darrya Graham, Ty'anna Hairston, Anthony "TJ" Hickman, Ravenia Kennedy, Robert (Briyona) Kennedy Jr., Desmond King, Dairio Little, Jr., Teron Smith, Deante Whiters-Johnson, and Aissata Zodi; 14 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Marie Little; a brother, Fred Anderson; a great uncle, James Albert Anderson; former wife of 35 years and the mother of his children, Vina Johnson; a devoted friend, Christine Evans; and host of nieces, nephews, and other family friends.
