Mr. James Oliver Horton, affectionately known as "Butch", 66, of Winston-Salem, NC was born February 28, 1947 to James Royal and Margaret Horton Culbreth. He passed away July 16, 2013.
James graduated from Anderson High School and was employed by the ABC Board in W-S, Asheville, and High Point, NC in which he retired after 30 years of service.
He was a member of several bowling leagues throughout Forsyth County. James was an avid lover of all sports especially WSSU Football games. "Butch" never met any strangers; he knew many people and was loved by all.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Reverend Walter Horton and Eugene Horton.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Kay Wilkinson-Horton of the home; three daughters, Audra Thompson of Chesapeake, VA, LaShawn Horton (Rosalyn) of Trinity, NC, and Tennia Horton of Asheville, NC; Godson, Brandon Gash; brothers, Jasper Horton (Angela), Samuel "Shorty" Horton (Shirley), and Rick Horton all of W-S, NC; his grandchildren who affectionately called him "Pop", Ronald Buey, Latonya Thompson, Terrell Johnson, Crystal Thompson, Tommy Burns, Tennia Burns, Tevin Workman, Marchayla Workman, Keaira Workman, Delacious Thompson, and his God-grandson, Ari Craig; great-grandchildren, Xavier Buey, Corey Jarvis, and Aubrey Buey; three special nephews, Kedrick Horton, Kenneth Horton, and Kenan Horton; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Monday, July 22, 2013 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1pm on Monday at the Chapel
