James Thomas Horne of 539 Efird Street Winston Salem, NC went to be with the Lord on the early morning of Saturday, August 23, 2014. He was born September 8, 1951 to Lester and Carrie Horne in Wadesboro, North Carolina. James was employed with the City of Winston Salem until his health decline. He attended Newness of Life Worship Center.

James was preceded in death by his mother, Carrie Horne; brother, Lester Horner Jr.; sister, Cynthia Horne Pearson; sister-in-law, Mildred "Princess" Horne; son-in-law, Jules "Tane" Giles; and nephews, Rico "Bookie" Horne and Tyrone "Fuzz" Horne Jr.

He is survived by his benevolent wife, Mary Horne; father, Lester Horne; children, Verna (Antonio) Sanders, Robin Cowan, James (Kenya) Leach, Tyrone (Janice) Leach, Tammy Giles, Penny Leach, Aaron Leach and Lori Taylor; grandchildren, Amber Horne, Tillman Horne, Angelica Cowan, Jasmine Cowan, Jaharra Cowan, Samira Cowan, Tyniqua Bradley, Tyjuan Bradley, Devin Mack, Chemiah Leach, and Tyreik Leach; great-grandchildren, Scobee Lockhart, Aubree Lockhart, Chrisshawn Mobley, Taniyah Bradley, Zion Leach, and Tyziah Bradley; brothers, Tyrone Horne and Greg (Mia) Horne; nieces, Korletter "Lil Rat" (Thomas) Horne-Jackson, Zaphoria Pearson, Chiketha Brown, Security "Nay Nay" Henderson, Amber Horne, and Danasja Horne; nephews, Trevor "Stink" Brown, Julius "Big Boy" Pearson, Jr., O'Ryan Holmes, Algefield "Snoochie" Cain, III, Greg Horne Jr., and Dejonte Horne; brothers-in-law, Haywood Leach, Frank (Cooda) McMillan; aunts, Myrtle Horne, Bessie Butler, Willie Mae Tillman, Bernice Whitsnant, Edna (Robert) Tomes; uncles, Jesse (Juanita) Michael, Robert (Mazie) Michael, James "John" Michael. He is survived by a host of cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday, August 30, 2014 at First Waughtown Baptist Church with Pastor Dennis Bishop officiating and Pastor William Brame eulogist. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Saturday at the Church.
