James Milton Hogg, 83, of 2139 East 24th Street, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, entered into eternal rest early Tuesday morning, February 26, 2008 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born January 7, 1925 in Anderson County, South Carolina to Alonia Hogg. He moved to Winston-Salem and resided there over fifty years. Mr. Hogg was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, a member of the Ralph R. Morgan Post 220, and retired supervisor for the City of Winston-Salem.
Mr. Hogg was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Gospel Choir until his health began to fail.
Mr. Hogg was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-nine years, Mrs. Helen Louise White Hogg, a son, James White and a granddaughter, Keisha Hogg.
To celebrate and cherish his memories are two sons; David L. Hogg of Fullerton, CA and Ronald L. Hogg (Joyce) of Fort Washington, MD; three daughters; Joyce H. Smith and Johnnie Mae Hardie of Winston-Salem, NC and Melanie Hogg of Stone Mountain, GA Georgia; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a host of friends and other family members.
Funeral services will be held at Noon Monday, March 3, 3008 from the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Nathan Scovens officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11am until Noon on Monday at the Church.
