Obituary

On the afternoon of September 10, 2022 while surrounded by family and friends, James was called home by the Lord. James Marshall Hinnant was born in Wilson, NC on July 14, 1956 to the late Charlie Hinnant and Rubylene Harris.

James was educated in Wilson, NC. He joined the Marine Corps and continued his career in construction in Washington, DC. He enjoyed joking and spending time with family and friends, as well as watching his favorite team, The Washington Commanders.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Dononvan Hinnant.

He is survived by his wife Mae Hinnant; his six children, Latrice Martin of New Carrollton, MD, Mildred Farmer, Valeria Farmer of Wilson, NC, Angelita Martin of Winston-Salem, NC, James Martin, and Emmanuel Martin (Adana) of Washington, DC; twelve grandchildren, Deonte' Martin, Brittany Farmer, Kevin Farmer, Makiya McFadden, Kumarni McFadden, Keonte Martin, Tavonte Martin, Alvin Glasgow, Aaron Andrews, Emanni Martin, Aubrey Collins, and Treasure Martin; two great-grandchildren, London Davender and Romero Pate; three sisters, Gwendolyn Thomas (Harold), Earlene Hinnant, and Denise Thompson (Rudolph); one brother, Charlie Hinnant Jr.; and a host of family to continue his legacy.

Viewing will be held from 1:0pm until 5:00pm Monday, September 19, 2022 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Clyburn, Sr. officiating. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12:00noon on Tuesday at the Chapel. Interment will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, September 21, 2022 in Salisbury National Cemetery.
